Exhibition Details
This exhibition and sale showcases an exceptional range of paintings—from William Trost Richards’s luminous depictions of the sea to the sober city streets of Everett Shinn and surrealist-inspired imagery of Dale Nichols. In a confluence of many subjects, styles, and periods, over fifty distinctive works will be presented throughout the gallery, each created by a historically significant American artist, including Charles Burchfield, Ralph Albert Blakelock, Francis Augustus Silva, Maurice Prendergast, Sanford Robinson Gifford, and Peter Sculthorpe. Whether recently created or centuries old, the paintings on display share an enduring relevance. We invite viewers to experience these works in person, to consider what makes an artist a true master in their craft. Ultimately, it is the informed individual that is most adept at identifying brilliance. Our own experience and intellectual enrichment enable us to recognize and appreciate what is genuinely exceptional. - Louis M. Salerno
