Artist Biography
Roy Cleveland Nuse was an esteemed painter and teacher who lived and worked in Bucks County for nearly 60 years. While working in a factory, painting lampshades, a young Nuse was discovered for his artistic talent and encouraged to attend art school. He began studying at the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 1905 and, later, at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts where he studied with famous Pennsylvania impressionist, Daniel Garber. At the Academy, Nuse won the Toppan and Thouron Prizes as well as the Cresson Traveling Scholarship. It was during this time that Nuse settled in rural Bucks
