Note: This work was painted in Buffalo County, Wisconsin. The artist comments:
For the Nordic Star piece, I went on a photo run with a friend who lives in Wisconsin. We saw a lot of the barns that were weathered and the landscape is very different than where I am. It’s very hilly and very gnarly, in a way...A place we passed was wind-blown and it was snowing when I took the photo for reference. The challenge for me in the paining was to get those two white barns with the paneling to look weathered. When I was developing that painting, a lot of different layers would play into each other. I was playing back and forth until things looked like they have that inherent texture.
