Artist Biography

Paul Valentine Lantz, a native of Stromsburg, Nevada, was an American realist painter who lived and worked primarily in New Mexico. As a young child, he assisted a violinmaker in exchange for painting lessons. In 1923, at age 15, he was the youngest student admitted to the Kansas City Art Institute. He moved to New York City two years later to further his education at the National Academy of Design and the Art Students League.
