Note
The verso of this painting features an inscription stating that the painting was gifted to Douglas and Harriet for their wedding. Douglas, Douglas Albert Blakelock, was Ralph Albert Blakelock’s youngest child, born in 1899. Marrying in August 1920, Douglas and Harriet received Wedding Gift, presumably from another family member, around the one-year anniversary of Blakelock’s death.
