Note
Fascinated by early American culture, Eric Sloane extensively wrote about and painted the built and natural features that characterize America. Among these, barns were a favored subject, Sloane viewing stone barns as vestiges of America’s agrarian past. In The Stone Barn, Sloane sets the structure in a sea of autumn grass, emphasizing the vast farmland.
