Note
Bunner was known for his depictions of the Long Island shore and the Hudson River in summertime, and abroad, for his scenes of the Venice canals and lagoons. Born and based in New York for his entire life, Bunner traveled through Europe to study painting from 1871 to 1876, at which time he would have painted The Evening Hour, Summer.
