Note
Van Dearing Perrine resisted direct association with a particular school or style but is generally considered to be an important American artist in the transition from impressionism to semi-abstractionism.[1] employed bold color and broad brushstrokes, his later work focusing on theories of color and light and their effect on the perception of familiar subjects.[2]
