Note

Bricher’s Nocturne captures the “poetry of the atmosphere rather than the prose of physical earth.”[1] His sharp attention to the effects of light and atmosphere demonstrates his ties to Luminism, as he portrayed quiet, light-filled coastal scenes with precise rendering. The forms, often bathed in soft, misty glows, reflect his continued adherence to the Luminist tradition.
