Note
Blakelock’s moonlight compositions require closer and more careful observation than is typical, for, as Blakelock scholar Norman Geske has observed, “their impact and quality are based on Blakelock’s acute receptivity to nighttime,” a condition rooted in the artist’s subjective imaginative “place.”[1]
