Note
Born in Minsk and raised in New York City, Bogdanove trained at Cooper Union, the National Academy of Design, and Columbia’s School of Architecture. After visiting Maine in 1915 and Monhegan in 1918, he shifted his focus to landscapes. By the 1920s, Monhegan scenes dominated his work, and he became a central figure in the island’s artistic community. Throughout his career, he exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, National Academy of Design, and Corcoran Gallery of Art.
