Note
Originally from Australia, Hayley Lever came to America in 1911 and was soon counted among the most widely exhibited artists in New York City. Drawn to the hustle and bustle of his new surroundings, he painted views of the buildings and waterways of New York. He had a summer studio in Gloucester, Massachusetts, and from 1919 to 1931 taught at the Art Students League in New York City. Lever’s work is held in prestigious museum collections, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Dallas Museum of Art.
