Note

In 1916, Brook by Moonlight sold at auction from the Catholina Lambert collection for $20,000, setting the record for the largest amount ever paid at auction for a living American artist. Blakelock’s Moonlights were the starting point for his success and have provided inspiration for generations of artists to pursue their own vision. His work is held in the top museum collections across the United States, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the National Gallery of Art, amongst many others.
