Note
Jasper Cropsey, celebrated early in his career as the “painter of autumn,” remained devoted to capturing the American autumnal landscape throughout his life. In the 1890s, he focused on views of the Palisades and rocky Hudson River outcroppings, continuing his exploration of the region’s natural beauty. His work is held in major museum collections including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
