Formerly titled The Girl in the Pines and A Summer Idyll, this painting was created in the early 1890s, during the golden period of Edmund C. Tarbell’s career as an Impressionist painter. It exemplifies his masterful technique and vivid handling of light and color, standing as a quintessential crystallization of his style. Gifted by the artist himself, the painting has long been treasured in a private collection.
