Note
Cornwall Bridge is a small, rural community in Litchfield County, Connecticut. Sloane lived nearby, in Warren, Connecticut, and often painted the neighboring town. Sloane viewed the barn as an important symbol of Americana, exploring farms throughout New England and creating his own compositions from memory.
Abercrombie & Fitch, which began as a high-end sporting goods store, owned several of Eric Sloane’s paintings and even featured his work on the cover of their catalogue of merchandise.
