Alongside Thomas Eakins, Thomas Bigelow Craig participated in the Philadelphia Sketch Club after receiving training at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Craig is most well-known for his pastoral scenes, evoking Pennsylvania’s farmland and wooded landscapes, as depicted in Autumn Stroll Along the River Path. Throughout his career, he exhibited his paintings at the National Academy of Design from 1879-1924 and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts from 1876-1891.
