Eric Sloane’s Autumn Colors captures the mood and lore of the early American countryside in the nostalgic beauty of the vanishing American barn. Reflecting on the fall season, depicted in this work, he remarked, “The beauty and splendor of autumn in New England is not just reserved for groves of majestic trees. The rustic colors of autumn are alive in the farmlands and rural areas and provide wonderful memories and subjects for paintings as well.”[1]
