Elliot Vesell, a pioneer in pharmacological sciences, was a major collector of Hudson River School paintings, offering a selection of his collection for an exhibition at the Palmer Art Museum in 1978 titled All That is Glorious Around Us that was later reprised by the Westmoreland Museum of American Art in 1997.
