Note: The Andrew & Betsy Wyeth Study Center of the Brandywine Museum of Art confirms that this object is recorded in Betsy James Wyeth’s files.
In 1957, Andrew Wyeth and his wife Betsy purchased a historic gristmill, known as Brinton’s Mill or simply The Mill, on the Brandywine River in Pennsylvania. After restoring the property, the couple moved their residence to The Mill in 1961. The stone building, built in the 18th century, is featured in several of Wyeth’s works.
