Born in Illinois, William Jean Beauley became a New York City painter and architect. Trained as an architectural draftsman, he studied under Henry Bacon and then French architect Maurice Yvon; it was in Paris that Beauley first became acquainted with painters. In New York, he would learn from the illustrious Ashcan painter Robert Henri. Beauley was a member of the Architectural League of New York, the American Art Association of Paris, the Players Club, and the Art Club of Philadelphia.
