Arthur James Beaumont

Born in Bradford, England, Arthur James Beaumont studied painting in London with Julius Olsson before moving to Paris at the turn of the century to attend the Académie Julian. After his schooling, Beaumont returned to England and became a member of the St. Ives School. He emigrated to the United States in the early twentieth century, settling in Staten Island, New York. Throughout his career, Beaumont traveled extensively in Europe and America to paint marine and landscape scenes. He exhibited at The Art Institute of Chicago, the Salmagundi Club, and with the American Watercolor Society at the National Academy of Design. Beaumont’s work won several awards in the 1920s.
