Inspired by the majesty of Italy, Antoine Bouvard devoted his oeuvre to capturing the beauty and glamour of Venice. Born in France, Bouvard studied art and architecture at the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris and went on to serve as the Director of Architectural Services for the Seine. He pursued his painting career while overseeing several important construction projects in Paris and began creating large-scale images of Venice’s Grand Canal. Painted in a vibrant Impressionist style, the Venetian scenes demonstrate Bouvard’s talent for design and eye for architectural detail. The paintings proved widely popular, attracting a large audience, and were exhibited throughout Italy and France.
