Artist Biography

Born in San Francisco, California, Julian Joseph is known for his impressionistic landscapes and city scenes. He studied at the National Academy of Design, at the Art Students League with Frank Vincent DuMond (1865–1951), and at the Académie Julian in Paris with Jean-Paul Laurens (1838–1921). He taught at the Cooper Union Art School in New York. He was a member of Artists Equity and a founding artist member of the Mystic Art Association, which has become today’s Mystic Museum of Art, Connecticut. During his lifetime, Joseph’s work was exhibited at the Lewis and Clark Exposition in Portland, Oregon, Mystic Art
