THOUGHTS & COMMENTS
"[Collecting] is not an amusement, but a passion often so violent that it is no less potent than love or ambition . . ."

Many thanks for keeping me on your mailing list. After completely furnishing a National Register house and property five years ago, I'm still not back in the art market. Thus, I write merely to say you're terrific. You know how to keep in touch with your clientele and your prospective clientele; your information is thoughtful, your acquisitions superior, and your catalogs superb. You are my favorite dealer, for whatever that's worth. Well done.

Impressive!!!!!!!!! Motivating!!!!!! Really great paintings. Thank you so much for sending this.

This really made my day today as my husband and I took his father to the Asher Durand exhibit in San Diego yesterday. We really need a new painting now, don't we! ;-)

Greetings, Jessica!
Just a note to say how much I have enjoyed your new [Collector's] series and hope there will be more to follow. I am planning to present a tour of our eleven paintings that are hanging in the Muscarelle Museum of Art in Williamsburg, Virginia, in April. This first bulletin has been very helpful in giving me some ideas for my tour. Everyone who sees our charming painting has been so complimentary. We adore it!
Hope you all are well and having a prosperous season. Look forward to seeing you during the coming year.

Best regards,
Patty Owens

Hi Lou,
I just wanted to take this opportunity to give you some positive feedback on your Collector's Series. It was very enjoyable to read and it was able to provide me with fundamental answers to why collecting art is such an enjoyable endeavor. I also enjoyed reviewing the recent "Nature of a Nation" catalogue - many wonderful paintings. When I review the paintings in the catalogue, I have fun testing myself on the interpretation of each painting. It also allows me to quickly compare and contrast styles between the artists. I have to say that the Cropsey, Kensett, and Hubbard were my favorites in this catalogue. I hope all is well and as always I thank you for helping me to build my collection.

Best regards,
Matt Brown

Thank you for your fine piece- The Collector's Series: 1. I spent the better part of 35 years working on Wall Street. As you might imagine it was a life immersed in financial assets. Ten years ago I began collecting early Florida paintings circa 1950. The catalyst was a book- The Lost Colony-which focused on a fledgling group of artists that found The Ancient City of St Augustine, FL, an exciting genre. The likes of John Hare, Anthony Thieme were present. The onset of the Depression put an untimely end to their dreams of establishing an Art Colony in the nation?s oldest city. I have built my collection around this group, focusing on Emmitt Fritz, John Hare and Nunzio Vayana.

Your comments about art diversifying risks are quite accurate. The collection of about 25 pieces has appreciated nicely. While financial gain is always a pleasant experience, my gallery visits, research and interfacing with local art enthusiasts has more than filled the void of daily Wall Street action.

Congratulations on addressing this issue so effectively.
